What is 127,577? Alphabet's quarter, in millions of dollars, plus a $567.7 billion backlog
You typed "127,577" into a search bar: it's the revenue of Alphabet, Google's parent company, for one quarter, meaning the money the group took in over three months, written in millions of dollars. Here is what's inside it, and what sits behind it.
News, The Bill section. Exhibit 99.1 of the 8-K from Alphabet, Google's parent company (the document a company files with the SEC, the US stock market regulator, to announce its results) and its quarterly report (10-Q, the detailed report filed every quarter) for Q3 2026 (the third quarter, July to September), read in full on November 2, 2026.

In short
- 127,577 is Alphabet's total revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, meaning the money the group took in over 3 months. The figure is in millions of dollars: $127.6 billion.
- A year earlier, the same quarter: $102,346M. The difference is $25,231M, i.e. +25%.
- Behind it, a revenue backlog of $567.7 billion, of which $560.8 billion for Google Cloud (renting servers and software to businesses). The backlog is the contracts already signed but not yet billed.
What 127,577 means
Alphabet's tables are "in millions". So 127,577 reads $127,577 million, or about $127.6 billion. It is the "Total revenues" line for the three months to September 30, 2026, versus $102,346 million for the same quarter of 2025.
Where it comes from
The quarter's revenues by line, always in millions of dollars (Q3 2025, then Q3 2026):
- Google Search & other (Google search and its ads): 56,567, then 63,350
- YouTube ads: 10,261, then 11,207
- Google Network: 7,354, then 7,455 (ads shown on other publishers' sites and apps)
- Google subscriptions, platforms, and devices (subscriptions, app store and hardware): 12,870, then 14,290
- Google Cloud: 15,157, then 30,709
- Other Bets: 344, then 372 (the group's long-term bets outside Google)
- Hedging gains (losses): (207), then 194 (operations that protect against currency swings; a figure in brackets is a loss)
The table also gives a "Google Services total" of 96,302 (Search, YouTube, Network, subscriptions and devices). Add Cloud's 30,709, Other Bets' 372 and the 194 of hedging, and you get 127,577. That addition is mine; the table gives every term.
On the Cloud line, Alphabet writes that revenues "increased 103% to $30.7 billion". Cloud's 30,709 out of 127,577 is about 24%, i.e. $24 out of every $100 of revenue. That percentage is my math, not Alphabet's.
The backlog behind the quarter
The backlog is the contracts customers have already signed but whose money has not been collected yet: the company gets it over the months and years, as it delivers the service. The 10-Q has a note called "Revenue Backlog":
- $567.7 billion of remaining performance obligations ("revenue backlog") at September 30, 2026;
- $560.8 billion of it related to Google Cloud;
- "just over 55%" expected to be recognized as revenue over the next 24 months, the rest afterwards.
Two cautions from the same note:
- the note says that in the first quarter of 2026 Alphabet changed what the backlog counts: it now also includes contracts with an original expected term of one year or less;
- $16.8 billion of the backlog is tied to a multi-year agreement with Crux AI, a joint venture Alphabet is part of, which is "a related party": an actor close to the group, not an independent customer.
I have no earlier backlog figure in my files, so I won't say whether it grew.
And the spending
Alphabet's quarterly purchases of property and equipment (capex: money spent to build data centers, those big buildings full of servers, and to buy the machines that go inside) went from $23,953 million in Q3 2025 to $51,355 million in Q3 2026. The 10-Q says they "primarily reflected investments in technical infrastructure" and gives $51.4 billion (the same figure, rounded). It also expects to "significantly increase" that investment in 2026 relative to 2025, with no dollar figure.
Key terms
- Capex: money spent on long-lasting things, such as data centers and servers. Here, "Purchases of property and equipment".
- Remaining performance obligations: "commitments in customer contracts that have not yet been recognized as revenue"; cancelable contracts are excluded.
Go further
The full reading, line by line (Cloud profit, free cash flow, meaning the cash left once the bills are paid, and financing): Google Cloud doubles. Alphabet buys more than it brings in, two quarters running.

Everyone tells you it's cheap. I read the invoice all the way down. I keep the house accounts, so I know where the money goes.
